What Is Reiki Healing?

Reiki healing is a holistic practice that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It involves the transfer of universal life energy through the hands of a practitioner to promote healing and relaxation. Many people seek reiki sessions for various reasons, including stress reduction, emotional balance, and physical healing. The process is non-invasive as the recipient remains fully clothed while either lying down or sitting in a comfortable position.
During a session, practitioners lightly place their hands on or just above the client’s body. As a reiki practitioner myself, I choose to do my healing with a hands off approach. Clients tell me they feel more comfortable and less anxious during our sessions. Reiki is very effective and those receiving treatment may experience various sensations during their sessions such as warmth,  tingling  or increased sense of energy during treatment. Reiki is believed to restore the natural flow of energy in the body, potentially addressing blockages that may cause discomfort or illness.
One of the unique aspects of reiki is that it can be performed remotely, allowing practitioners to send healing energy to clients from a distance. This modality emphasizes relaxation and emotional release, which can lead to profound personal insights. Individuals who experience reiki often describe feeling deeply relaxed, rejuvenated, and in touch with their emotions.
Scientific studies on reiki are limited, but anecdotal evidence suggests that many find it beneficial. As stress and anxiety levels continue to rise in modern society, alternative healing techniques like reiki are gaining popularity. Reiki is also often used in conjunction with other medical treatments, acting as a complementary therapy.
While skeptics question its efficacy, countless individuals tout reiki as a meaningful part of their self-care regime. Reiki practitioners encourage an open mind and heart, emphasizing the importance of intention and trust in the healing process. Whether you’re a seasoned spiritual seeker or new to holistic practices, exploring reiki may offer valuable insights into your health and well-being.
For those interested, I am a certified reiki practitioner available in person during events I am attending or remotely.  I will most often begin new clients with a remote session at a scheduled day and time. This is a good way to begin as it ensure a safe and effective experience. Regardless of one’s personal beliefs, many people have discovered that reiki can lead to a greater sense of calm and clarity in life.
