How is your week going? So far I hear people are moody and irritable and don’t know why. For many of us who are tuned into the moon cycles – ladies you know what I mean the full moon already plays havoc with us physically, psychically and emotionally but moving into the full Harvest moon in the wee hours of Saturday… this last 1/4 is going to be a bitch as we inch closer to the Equinox. For those of us who live in the eastern part of North America, we will see the Harvest Moon just after midnight—at 12:33 a.m. on Saturday, the 14th which actually has the potential to also be a Supermoon or a Micromoon. The event nearly coincides with apogee—that point in its orbit which places it at its greatest distance from the Earth: 252,100 miles away. So the moon may appear larger or smaller depending on where you are viewing.
This is also a perfect time to work some lunar magic. Harnassing the Moon’s full potential and power. Things begin to line up this Friday – the cusp of the full moon – the apogee and Friday the 13th (often associated with bad luck but add those numbers 1 + 3 = 4. The number 4 rebels against the old, brings in new wonderful forces, transforms and releases & offers change. It is also the number of co-operation, harmony, practicality, responsibility, organization, discipline and planning)
The Harvest Moon is a reminder that seasons are changing and that all the things you planted (intentions) in spring are ready to reap. Take advantage of your earlier work and collect the bounty. If you did not plant anything in Spring that has come to fruition it is never too late. Just like Winter Wheat, you can now take advantage of preparing your next set of intentions with this month’s full moon energy.
First, give gratitude for all you have received thus far and thank the universe for its support. Remember to thank friends, family, and lovers. Do not be afraid to ask once again for your cup to be filled or re-filled, but remember you must also give back to balance.
If there are things that didn’t quite grow to fruition or you need to increase this is the time to ask. Anything you desire more of or seek illumination about, put into your Harvest Moon intention.
Plan ahead for the coming winter months. Think about what you need to stockpile? Whether it is the day to day supplies, magical ingredients, food, drink, love or balance, work on these now so that you have them on hand when the weather changes. Also, Remember Weather is not always physical emotional storms must also be considered.
The Harvest Moon reflects the wonder of abundance that may be in your own life as well, Think of ways you can share this with others. It may be something as simple as packing up old clothes to be donated, lending your ear to a friend, becoming more magical or mentoring someone. We should use this time of year to pay things forward, mentally, materially and magically. Abundance is a wonderful thing when shared with others.
